Although they advise not to make a project personal, I always do. If I am designing and building a house, I want it to be a place that I would want to live. For that reason, I try to include a utility and boot room if possible. I think it is because in my own home I definitely do not have an inspiring utility (and don’t have a boot room).
A utility room is a great space to be able to house washing machines/dryers and extra cupboard space for all the things you do not use that often. It means the kitchen does not have to have quite as much cupboard space. I love open shelves and try to avoid wall mounted cupboards so that extra space in the utility comes in handy. A boot room is a great space to put all the hats, coats and footwear and means the main entrance is kept clean and clutter free. The side entrance of this project opens into the boot room so muddy boots/paws can all be taken off/cleaned before entering the kitchen.
We use deVOL Kitchens in our previous project and we were so pleased with them that we decided to use them again. The quality of their kitchens is excellent, but they are also a great company to deal with. They are organised, always reply to queries promptly and listen to the client. They were very flexible even when we had to keep moving the installation date due to the delay in laying the floors and then later Covid. They also designed the utility and boot room, and we are so pleased with the result.
